📍 Shortlisted candidates will go through an interview and matching process before being selected for the Tokyo internship.
Main Support Provided to Interns
The Tokyo Internship Secretariat and the host company will take care of many important things to help you focus on learning and growing:
🔹 Arranged by the Secretariat:
- Visa acquisition support
- Round-trip airfare (economy class)
- Internship insurance
- Travel costs & accommodation for training periods
- Loan of Mobile phone & SIM card (for official coordination)
- Information about living and working in Tokyo
🔸 Arranged by the Host Company:
- Accommodation during internship (up to ¥4,000/day covered)
- Support with finding suitable places to stay in Tokyo
Internship Schedule (Planned Timeline)
If you’re selected for the Tokyo Internship 2025, here’s what your journey will typically look like:
🔸 Arrival in Japan
🡆 Date: Tuesday, October 14, 2025 (morning)
🡆 You’ll arrive in Tokyo and begin settling into your accommodation, coordinated by the program.
🔸 Preparatory Training
🡆 Dates: October 15 (Wednesday) – October 17 (Friday morning)
🡆 Purpose: To familiarize you with Japanese workplace culture, communication practices, and expectations.
🡆 You’ll also receive guidance on how to collaborate with your host company and navigate daily life in Japan.
🔸 Internship Period
🡆 Duration: October 14 – December 12, 2025
🡆 You’ll be placed in a small or medium-sized Tokyo-based enterprise, selected through a matching process.\
🡆 Your work will align with your professional skills and career interests (e.g., tech, marketing, sales, or global strategy).
🔸 Mid-Term Follow-Up Training
🡆 Timing: Mid-November 2025
🡆 This session offers a chance to reflect, recalibrate goals, and troubleshoot any challenges with the secretariat’s support.
🔸 Final Presentation (For Participants)
🡆 Date: Thursday, December 11, 2025 (morning)
🡆 You’ll present your learning outcomes and experiences directly to the organizers and company representatives.
🔸 Departure from Japan
🡆 Date: Friday, December 12, 2025 (morning)
🡆 After completing your internship, you’ll return home with valuable international experience and professional exposure.
🔸 Public Results Presentation (Online)
🡆 Planned for: Early February 2026
🡆 An online presentation showcasing internship outcomes will be shared with external stakeholders.
🡆 Some participants may be invited to contribute and share their stories publicly.

What Are Your Responsibilities as an Intern?
As a participant funded by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, you’ll be expected to maintain a high level of commitment and professionalism.
Your Key Duties:
- Develop an internship plan with your host company (your role, goals, etc.)
- Participate in pre-training, follow-up training, and other events
- Be fully dedicated to your internship activities
- Ensure your health and safety; communicate with the secretariat and company if needed
- Submit all required reports, notifications, and documents before, during, and after the program
- Share your experience on social media (in your native language) after the internship
- Cooperate with any follow-up surveys conducted by the organizers.
